Celebrate Tu BiShvat – the Jewish new year of trees, a holiday of ecological awareness that marks the revival of nature! Join The Neighborhood for live performances, interactive dance, planting workshops, art-making, planting workshops, and storytelling that highlights nature and the traditions of the holiday.

Tasting the Fruits of Tu BiShvat

Did you know that there are four kinds of fruits that are traditionally eaten on Tu BiShvat? Come sample these symbolic foods in a fun and interactive fruit tasting.

Story Time with PJ Library

Join PJ Library for interactive stories about trees, planting, and Tu BiShvat. Together we’ll bring these earth-based tales to life through engaging read-alongs.

Tu BiShvat Music & Movement

Join Tkiya to enjoy music, movement, their signature blend of songs and interactive learning about Tu BiShvat and the birthday of the trees.

Tree Tales: Short Films

Enjoy a collection of fun short films celebrating trees.

Seed Ball Workshop

Make a seed ball using soil, compost, and seeds to help local plants flourish. Learn this fun planting method in a hands-on workshop led by Repair the World.

Tree Art: Making Prints with Sunlight

Transform leaves and natural materials into amazing works of art using sunlight and special photosensitive paper. Learn about different parts of trees and create your own nature-inspired artwork at this cyanotype printmaking workshop.

Traveling Trees

Throughout the day a musical duo dressed as trees will be traveling around the Museum to share songs about their leafy life.

Earth is Delicious: Help the Shamir Worm Make Compost

Meet real worms and discover how they create nature’s recycling system – compost! Take home some compost for your garden at this engaging program led by Big Reuse and the NYC Sanitation Department.
